Undergraduate Alumni Interviewing

The Alumni Schools Committee (ASC) consists of local alumni who interview undergraduate applicants to Yale.  Most of the activity is in January and February of each year and takes only a few hours.  Undergraduate alums of Yale College are always needed to interview.  It is a great way to stay connected with Yale, meet some interesting local young people, and help Yale with its process of selecting future Yalies.

To sign up with any of the ASCs in the Bay Area, please contact Johanna Wise, the regional director, at:  johannawise@mac.com   We try to match applicants with interviewers geographically and by major.  Please include in the message where you live, what your major was at Yale, and whether you have any special requests or areas of interest.
 

ASC Outreach Programs

Each year the Yale Club of Silicon Valley hosts an Admit Reception and sponsors programs to communicate with college advisors, students, and parents.  The objectives of these programs are to attract talented students to Yale and to assist the university with its admissions efforts.  The programs are funded by membership fees and donations from alumni.

In 2010 we hosted our first meeting with high school college counselors and advisors at the Computer History Museum for a discussion with Prof. Marvin Chun about Yale and the sciences at Yale.  As part of this effort, we are launching a new program to donate a Yale book to the library of each participating high school, which will promote Yale's image and help the schools as they cut their library budgets.  It will also give the schools an opportunity to get to know Yale and the Yale University Press better through resources such as Yale Books Unbound.
